A U.S. combat soldier killed...in Basra?
The first U.S. fatality in Iraq this month was killed in Basra, the southern oil port city under British control. The soldier's unit, the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary), is based at LSA Anaconda, about 70 miles north of Baghdad.
This seems quite odd, only two other U.S. fatalities have occured in Basra over the last year, and they were non-combat related deaths at Camp Bucca.
Just bad luck, or are U.S. combat troops starting to fill in for the soon to depart British troops now?
